This is inspired by a photograph of the 1970s era as shown by the decor and the clothing on the female figure. Technically it is a marriage of the figurative and the abstract in a harmonious composition with a focus on atmosphere.

Colour and atmosphere are at the center of Anna Marous' compositions. Her works navigate the figurative and the abstract with an appeal for playfulness and an awareness of modern and contemporary arts. While expressionism surfaces as the dominant style, her paintings are poetic and tender despite their luscious colours. The influence of the modern masters and the school of Paris are evident: Picasso, Matisse, Klee, Tolouse-Lautrec, Dufy, and Modigliani. All figure in her work as she leads with a contemporary design of classic subjects including still lives and abstract works. Anna Marous speaks about her painting process in this way: "Art is freedom. It is a never-ending conversation. If you summon the courage, painting offers the possibility to discover where your intuition leads you, free from constraints other than those brought about by your medium and surface. It is a dance of your encounter with paint--a dance where you get drawn in so deep that you catch the hand of the viewer." Anna Marous has painted since her early twenties without any formal training. She later attended advanced fine art programs through the Royal College of Arts, the Visual Arts Center in Westmount, and l'Atelier Circulaire in Montreal. She engaged in artistic collaborations and private mentorships. Her work appears in collections across North America, Europe and worldwide.
