Kosala Kumara is a Sri Lankan artist born in the North Central regions of the country, who creates paintings using watercolor, oil and mixed mediums. He is a graduate from the Kelaniya University, majoring in Art and currently employed as an art teacher. His preferred theme is environment as he was born and raised in an environment where nature and animals played a significant role where he is naturally drawn to it. In his creations, Kosala always tries to find inspiration for his preferred theme from nature and create various animal sculptures from natural mediums such as tree bark. Also, he creates various animal designs using pieces of driftwood found in abundance near his home. He also is a frequent contributor to various tourist resorts in his hometown with his designs. He feels that every painting he create represents the environment he loved since he was a child and his attachment to nature and the people of the environment he grew up in. He lives in a beautiful and quiet neighborhood, and it is an environment which gives him the inspiration to create which is well represented in his work. Kosala also has been a regular participant at Kalapola for more than ten years.
