This piece is a large 50x60" canvas diptych, consisting of two 30x50" parts. It has the head of the ancient god Quetzalcoatl of the Aztec culture and the body of a commercial Drone. It is a modern representation of the Feathered Serpent, wind god, and keeper of light, watcher of the world and co-creator of humans. Instead of a flying serpent, it is an unmanned flying vehicle adding a contemporary note to this ancient depiction of the deity. This is one of the culminations of the Tribal Pop series mixing ancient Mexican ethnic motifs with modern pop minimalist treatments, to create a contemporary vision of the ancient culture and bring it forth to the present.
