Rita Andrade is a socially engaged artist. Born in 1998 in Lisbon, Portugal, Rita completed her bachelor’s degree in Painting at the Fine Arts University of Lisbon in 2020. Seeking further academic and artistic growth, Rita went to London in 2021 to pursue a Master’s degree in Art and Politics at Goldsmiths, University of London. Her dissertation, titled "How Art and Education Can Make a Change in Honduran Children's Lives: Artistic and Fieldwork Research", earned distinction, and she is currently living in Portugal. Rita’s work centers on the transformative power of art as a peaceful medium for communication. She focuses on advocating for human rights, drawing inspiration from her travels to Palestine and Honduras. Her approach underscores the necessity of immersive fieldwork research to ensure a profound understanding of the contexts she addresses. As both an artist and provocateur, Rita Andrade's work invites viewers to question their roles in both personal and global contexts. She creates a provocative dialogue, urging us to examine human nature and the power dynamics that shape society. Her art serves as a catalyst for critical discourse, encouraging self-reflection, independent thinking, and a bold step outside of comfort zones. By questioning established norms and societal constructs, she inspires a deeper awareness of individual influence and responsibility, pushing viewers to reconsider their place and impact in the world.
