I love colour, and I love it big and bold and beautiful, so that it fills a room or a home with its energy. Where do I get my inspiration from? I grew up surrounded by some amazing buildings; I was fascinated by the paintings of abstract masters like Miro, and music inspired me from an early age. Since I was a child all, I’ve ever wanted to do was become an artist - to live the artist’s life, and to be creative. My name is Marta Stasiak, although I chose to name my brand Lilla My (it means Little Me in Swedish) because, although I am quite small in stature, I am loud in attitude – something I try to express through my art. I want to create art that people can take into their home and feel that it enriches their life. Some of my paintings are for children’s rooms, where the intensity of the colour and the energy of the subjects can help to inspire young imaginations to take flight! My big acrylics and oils are for the living space in the modern home. These too, I hope, will delight and inspire. We all need to have beauty in our lives – it is uplifting, as well as decorative. My creative impulse extends to hand-crafting ornamental trees – Fortune Trees – which are considered lucky talismans in my native Poland. I don’t swear they will bring you luck but good things may happen! Something magical occurs when we take home a painting or a unique, hand-crafted artwork. We create a special atmosphere in the room when we hang a painting on the wall. Where we place a beautiful object becomes a point of focus; your eye is drawn to it. It’s impossible to be neutral about art - everyone has their own view!
