ABOUT THE ARTWORK
We had an early snowfall in Toronto this year. On the night of the storm I was thinking about deep red whilst watching the snow flakes fall on the autumn leaves in my backyard. I laid out a large piece of board outside in the snow. I then mixed a pot of several red paints and water. I applied this base red on the board. Snow fell on the painting. I let it sit outside for about 5 hours. Over the following 2 weeks I finished the work in my studio...inside!

I started painting, drawing, and taking photographs in 2006 as a way to create memories with my kids. We would paint together while listening to Led Zeppelin, Bob Marley, Coldplay or the latest hip hop tune. We bonded over creating art. These are precious memories to be sure! I painted any time I could. I painted on wood, cardboard, canvas and paper. I experimented with various techniques, paints, and colours. It became addictive and I experienced a pure thrill in the creative process. I still do!
