"The Waterside" is series of paintings created under the influence of my journey to the Kingdom of the Netherlands. "There is no river in the city where I was born and live. Therefore, I instinctively plan my trips to get into a new city where there is a river or sea. My choice of Dutch cities, obviously, also was not an accidental. But it was there I have seen so much water. I have seen country where the half of the territory is below sea level, while the other one has only one meter above this level height, and at the same time they deliver perfectly with this council. Here on non-fertile lands, taken from under salty sea water, trees and flowers grow, green grass is blooming and cows graze, houses and bicycles are cozily lined up. In spite of the constant struggle with the sea, the Netherlands really loves sea. It was there that I understood to what extent we, Ukrainians, are gifted by our nature and how important it is to love and appreciate this gift."
