Paola Magini is an Italian contemporary artist, based in the countryside of the province of Pisa, where she lives with her colony of exotic Australian birds. After several years dedicated to the creation of original mural paintings in both public and private enviromnment, she continues her artistic journey focusing on board paintings. Artist statement The general style of the works is influenced by cultural elements of various geographical and historical origins, but more accentuated by the decorative elements of Islamic culture, sometimes mixed with graphic elements belonging to the present period and others from Renaissance and Flemish art. The works are formally figurative and realistic, with a dreamlike atmosphere and 'suspended' in time. Some symbolic elements are frequently present in the paintings that refer to the underlying spiritual message. Among these are doors, water or fountains (symbols often present in the Scriptures) as well as other elements typical of the artist's personal iconography. The people depicted are a synthesis of future and past humanity, dressed in vintage clothes and hairstyles, but full of tattoos and with hair often as colorful as humanity of the present time. "The purpose of my work, in addition to satisfying the creative need that I have felt since I was a child, consists in wanting to push people to make an in-depth reflection on the importance of spirituality in their lives, as a healthier approach to oppose the rampant materialism in today's society. A society that pushes people to the most unbridled individualism and consumerism, a lifestyle that clearly damages people's mental health. Through the teaching of the Scriptures and a serious meditation on society and its behaviors, one can achieve a new awareness and hope for the future." Technically, the paintings are generally made on wood with a mixed technique of oil and acrylic colors, together with gold leaf
