Alexander Daniloff has been a professional artist and illustrator for over 35 years. He was born in the USSR (Ukraine) in 1963; currently he lives in Italy. After graduating from the Theatre School of Nizhny Novgorod (Russia) in 1990, he devoted himself entirely to artistic practice, beginning an international exhibition career in the late 1980s. His artistic research combines painting, illustration, and theatrical dimension: the artwork becomes a stage, a narrative, a metamorphosis. For Daniloff, art is a space of transformation in which the artist acts simultaneously as actor, director, and scenographer. Real and mythological epochs coexist within a consciously constructed theatricality, where the lightness of play intertwines with symbolic and dramatic tension. His philosophical position in art is to assume the nature of a fluid element, capable of adapting and changing form without losing its identity. Since 2000 he has lived and worked in Italy. For nearly four decades he has been exclusively devoted to art as a professional activity. He has created and published 15 Tarot and Oracle decks, illustrated books in Russia and Italy, collaborated with Russian magazines, and worked with Teatro Sociale di Rovigo designing posters for four opera and theatre seasons. He has also produced murals in Italy and Russia and created historical banners for major Italian historical reenactments. His works are held in public and institutional collections in Italy, Russia, and Ukraine, including the Fondazione Dario Mellone and the Fondazione Banca del Monte di Lucca; the Civic Gallery of Norilsk and the Museum of Art of the 20th–21st Centuries of Saint Petersburg; the Donetsk Regional Art Museum and the Museum of Fairy Tales in Kyiv, as well as in numerous private collections across Europe, the United States, and other countries.
