Born in Baku, Azerbaijan to the family of university teachers in May 3 1963. He showed interest in drawing and painting since his early childhood. At age 6 he attended drawing and painting classes in Palace for Youth in Baku. Formal education includes studying at Azerbaijan State Art college Azim-zade in Baku and at Academy of Art and Design in the Department of Monumental art, workshop of prof. Oleg Kuznetzov in st.Petersburg, Russia. Since his graduation in 1989 he worked in Baku state art plant mostly on government commissioned mosaics and murals and participated in national youth art exhibitions. During this period he also worked as illustrator on several books for the state publishing house. From early 90's artist started his international career by exhibiting his art extensively in Europe and USA which continues for nearly two decades. He also holds summer workshops in Finland, teaching drawing, painting and composition. Chingiz Abassov is author of numerous private and public commissions. Artist's works are in many private and public collections throughout world. Currently he works and divides his time between Azerbaijan, USA and Finland.
