I am Rajkumar D., a professional artist. My academic training has been extensive. I studied at the Government College of Arts & Crafts, Madras, India. Where I completed my Bachelors and Masters in Fine Arts. Receiving majors in painting, ceramics, life drawing, graphics and art history. At Melbourne Technology, Australia I received training in figure painting.I attended the Wooster Art Conference, Massachusetts, USA in 1973. I am also a certified IB visual art examiner appointed by Cardiff, UK. I have had several exhibitions in India and abroad. Including New York 1973, Albuquerque Mexico 1973, Melbourne Australia 1982, Maldives 1987, Gloucester UK 2004 and Tewkesbury Abbey 2005. Some of the collectors of my work include the late Rajah of Pudukkottai, Pudukkottai Palace Trichy, Rana of Udaipur, Udaipur Palace and GE Company, Bangalore. I have also sold paintings to independent collectors in the U.S., Germany, Netherlands, UK, Australia and India. During 1973 I had a video tape demonstration at Port Washington library. There was a write-up about my works in ‘Cape Cod Times’. I received a letter from ‘The White House’ in 1978, saying my portrait of President Carter would be placed in the National Archives. In 1982, I was on ‘Good Morning Melbourne’ giving a demonstration of my work. There was a write up about my works in the “Melbourne Age”. In 2004 I gave a radio interview to BBC at Gloucester. There was a write-up about my works in ‘Gloucester News’. I have several newspaper write-ups in India during my exhibitions. My painting was selected for the 40th National Lalit Kala Academy exhibition, India in 1997. I am listed in the national directory of contemporary artists in New Delhi India. Number: 2095E1997NEA40 I received the state award from the Tamil Nadu Lalit Kala Academy in 1998. I am passionate about painting. I visualize my ideas and think deeply about each work before the first stroke is made. These experiences are among the many influences which are conveyed in my paintings.
