Canadian Artist Randy Hryhorczuk is an oil painter creating urban landscape paintings and vibrant abstract art. His paintings have been featured on Interior Design TV programs and Home Decor magazines. He has shown publicly at art galleries and fairs since 2000 in Canada, The United States and Germany. His artwork can be found in private and corporate collections in Canada, USA, Great Britain and Guatemala. Randy currently paints at his home studio and is represented by contemporary art galleries in Toronto. Randy grew up in the wild, rural countryside of British Columbia’s lower mainland. As a child he enjoyed drawing pictures, and began taking art seriously in high school. Inspired by the work of Attila Richard Lukacs he chose oil painting as his primary medium. Following high school, he lived in the city of Vancouver where he saw Jean Michel Basquiat's work in person for the first time. Seeing this work inspired him to push himself to take new risks in subject and form. Eventually Randy rented his first art studio before moving to Toronto, Ontario to focus on a career in art. While initially focussed on figure painting, Randy's admired the energy of the abstract expressionists which influenced the earliest trips into abstraction. In 2007, Randy relocated to Guatemala City, Guatemala with his wife for 2 years. This period was spent drawing, painting, reading, visiting museums and traveling throughout Central America; frequently returning to Canada for art exhibitions and deliveries. Randy's time is devoted to creating art and supporting the efforts of other artists; believing that a strong creative community is a successful one.
