Lydia Leskovar (b. 1978) is a self-taught Canadian visual artist who was born and raised in Montreal and is of Croatian nationality. She is a contemporary figurative and abstract artist whose medium of choice is acrylic paint. Her pieces focus on portraits and the human figure particularly women, and always exude a rock n roll feel and vibe. She always tries to captivate emotions and feelings with her paintings through the images with bright flamboyant colours and imperfect brush strokes. She is inspired by Music, Fashion, Pop Culture, People and Interior Design. Being an introvert at a young age, drawing and painting gave her an outlet to express herself through her art. Over the years, her passion for art has been transformed into creating large-scale paintings with raw edginess. Although most of her body of work are figurative and portrait paintings, she is not defined by only one style of painting, as she also has a passion for abstract painting.
