Painting for me is a very calming experience. I often find myself getting lost in my work and being unaware of how much time may pass by. I believe that my artwork expresses this feeling I have and can be seen in many of my paintings. My paintings often have many layers and color variations that help express my personality as well as tell a journey in my painting. With the multi layers it helps create a story in the painting, to see the process and get lost in all the subtle changes. My subject matter of landscapes also reflects my attitude towards life, which is living calm and peaceful. I try and choose landscapes that make me feel most connected with the environment, and makes me want to be there. By doing this hopefully the viewer will have the same connection by looking at the painting. My paintings are all mostly high key in color and value because I want to create a light and atmospheric experience. By using watercolor I can push this feeling, because the medium is also very light and transparent. Painting is very therapeutic for me and I try to accomplish this same feeling for the viewer to make them feel the same calming affect it has on me. I want to explore this concept throughout my painting career because my goal as a painter is to try and create a connection with the viewers as well as bring in some peacefulness to the world.
