I was born in Canada and raised in a remote gold mining town in the boreal forest. I began painting from my canoe in the calmest corners of Ice Chest Lake. It is natural that my paintings continue to be inspired by my intimate relationsip with forests and lakes. My paintings are also motivated by our obligate relationship with nature and our fatal neglect and exploitation of it. I am now exploring natural shapes and the physical and chemical reactions which are inherent in all life forms and in the minerals that are contained in watercolours. Each colour reacts with the paper and other colours to form detailed forms which I seek to exploit in my paintings. I changed from acrylics to watercolours on paper 10 years ago as a more ecological form of painting.
