I feel a oneness with nature whenever I am in the forest, and the feeling is even more intense, if I am walking through the woods in full moon. Moonlight paints everything a bluish silver, shapes dissolve and reality melts away, leaving space for thoughts from a totally different take on life.

Aysen Abaci is a self-taught artist, who considers painting not only a means for self-expression, but also a method of meditation, a window to view nature, a medium to interpret and share experiences that lead to a better understanding of life and attaining spiritual growth. She uses vivid colors in ambiguous shapes, sometimes letting the paint run on the canvas freely sometimes applying it with more control, so each painting becomes a unique experience, both to create and to view. Each work of art will reveal more layers, provoking thought, raising questions while pleasing the viewer with joyous colors. Aysen Abaci’s process starts with a white, spotless brand new canvas, without any pre-conceived notions about the colors, shapes or tools to be used. At this point, anything is possible and the artist likens this to the beginning of life. Then paint is applied in various shades, textures and designs. Just like the experiences we have during our life that shape us, all these paint applications work towards the final artwork. Some of the paint, just like less favorable memories, is wiped off, not contributing to the painting in a major way, however they still leave a mark behind, which also becomes the part of the character of the painting. As the work proceeds, there is always a better sense of direction, and colors are applied more selectively, as we tend to do in our lives as we are getting older and wiser. The artist believes in the responsibility of art and artist to touch on social issues while not sacrificing color, beauty and hope that should exist in art and elsewhere to make the world a better place. She has displayed her art work in the following venues: Solo Show – April 2015 Mill Pond Art Gallery /Richmond Hill Joint Show – December 2015 Mill Pond Art Gallery/Richmond Hill Joint Show – December 2015 Art Square Gallery/Toronto Joint Show – January 2016 Arta Gallery/Distillery Toronto
