Laetitia Piccin (b.1986) graduated from the Fine Art school (Ecole des Beaux-Arts) in 2010 with a MA in Fine and Contemporary Art. Laetitia has since exhibited in Perpignan, Toulouse, Avignon, Belgium. She currently lives and works in London. Laetitia makes large-scale, gestural paintings that are built up through layers of acrylic on canvas overlaid with thick streams of paint. In her new series, Laetitia creates new narratives combining abstractions with frenetic and fractured geometry. Laetitia's points of departure are the music and the sounds, particularly the rough, compressed and dense electro-acoustic music of the 21st Century. Her paintings present a spectrum of visual incident where the bright colors and the large palette knife applied appear to translate fragments of musical rhythms. Laetitia has described her canvases as a way to explore the idea of "Seeing the unseen" as a mean to suggest with expression rather than depiction.
