Harper is a self-taught watercolorist. Harper grew up drawing and painting, spending hundreds of hours in art classes, in Vermont. In 2010, he decided to pursue watercolor painting. It felt natural and he sought to learn and master the use of color to match his creative vision. Harper is inspired by the paintings of Andrew Wyeth, Jamie Wyeth, Dennis Hopper, and John Singer Sargent. He is also inspired by his great love of nature, humanity and creativity. Both of Harper’s grandmothers were artists. It’s their legacy and artistic gifts that he hopes to honor with his watercolors. In his painting, he seeks to provide an inviting scene for people to enter into and reflect on their relationship to nature.
