Pomponio Cliffs Print

One can't go wrong with any beach in Half Moon Bay, California. For miles and miles and miles, the coastline is studded with breathtaking sand and surf. But on this particular day, I was drawn to this specific stop, Pomponio State Beach. As I regarded my surroundings, I found myself drawn more to painting the sand and cliffs than to the traditional water scene. Everything was a brilliant gold, and quite unpopulated save for a lone surfer who had pitched a blue tent against the cliffside. Despite the bright sunlight, the misty air allowed for a beautiful aerial perspective in the receding layers of cliffs. To me, this scene, saturated with reflected and refracted light, feels perhaps a little lonely, but nevertheless powerful.
