Pont Alexandre III, Paris, in the rain Print

Painted from my photograph I took while visiting Paris in March. It had just stopped raining creating a rather beautiful reflective effect on the surface of the road. A lot of Paris monuments seem to have been freshly gilded, such as the statues on the pillars at the four corners of this bridge. This bright colour lifts and contrasts with the array of muted tones which dominate this picture. Painted on ARCHES, 300g, hot pressed watercolour paper (which has a smooth surface finish) with Winsor & Newton paints. Unframed, unmounted. Painted to the edge of the paper. If you want the painting to really stand out then paying a professional framer will give you best results. But if you look in your art supplies shop you can find the materials to create your own mount and frame.
