Matthew R. Poindexter is a visual artist specializing in original and custom encaustic paintings and printmaking using vibrant colors and photographic collage techniques. He specializes in custom portraiture using client-supplied photos and suggested colors and metals. His original work has been described as Pop Surrealism and Sledgehammer Realism. Influences include early to mid-twentieth century propaganda posters, advertising design, pornography, street art and punk culture. Despite the modern imagery, Poindexter utilizes traditional techniques and highest quality archival materials. All artwork is made from scratch - from panel to paint to finished product - starting with basic raw materials. With proper care, these paintings will last for generations.
