I grew up in the countryside of England where I formed a deep connection with the landscape, which continues to inform my work today. I am inspired by the textures, shapes, lines, and colors of the landscape to create abstract paintings, and use expressive mark-making and vibrant color to convey the atmosphere and mood of the subject. I work mainly in acrylics because of their fast-drying properties which enable me to add multiple layers of paint to achieve a rich surface. I also love to explore mixed media and printmaking, especially when working on preparatory landscape studies.
