Born in Palm Springs California, Painter and photographer Tammy Romatko is a long time resident of the California high desert. A graduate of College of the Desert, Tammy's photography has been shown in many juried competitions while her paintings were most recently exhibited at Gallery 62 in Joshua Tree. Drawing inspiration from the desert landscape and her love of animals, her work combines abstraction with representational elements using layered acrylics and collage. Artist Statement: My paintings are an articulation of the world I see around me expressed as an abstract idea. The colors and textures create a recognizable place just outside of "knowing." I use color and symbolist natural forms to move the eye in a shallow perspective field. My paintings are mixed media using a combination of photography, acrylic paint, ink transfer, collage and stencil.
