Monika Holte born i Svolvær, Norway 1966. Live and work in Kristiansand. I feel my paintings before I paint them. I listen to the inner voice. I try to see the painting for myself but it is difficult. The further I go with this thought, the more elements of the painting appear to me. The figure becomes clear. I take photos that I use as a reference for the paint. I always paint the figur first and the background I have to feel along the way. I experiment with the bakgroud and the figure until it feels right. The meaning of the painting becomes like this. I see that the paintings arouse feelings in others, maybe it is thoughts and feelings, or memories they have left behind. My paintings are rooted in a figurative expression. I want to convey moods and emotions. I paint the small moments of life and give the viewer room to interpret the paintings so that they can relate to their own feelings and experience.
