Salma creates paintings that dive into the dazzling iconic vision of the female form from past decades and pre-internet era ,yet relatable to women today in a way that merges the past with the present through presentation and colors. Inspired by vintage magazines , images found in flea markets, yard sales, and on the internet of alluring characters from a lifetime ago. Nostalgic elements presented in short-lived moments of figures in stillness , reverie or enjoying a moment of leisure ,create a connection with the viewers who may feel that they know these women, or perhaps, see themselves in the paintings.The backgrounds in most works are faded out or replaced with vivid colors giving no exact evidence of time or place and thus adding more mystery and room for interpretation.
