I am a self-taught artist exploring and celebrating beauty of creation through batik and silk-painting. I am a member of Silk Painters International. Batik is painting with wax and dyes, which are not conventional or popular mediums. This ancient technique requires thoughtful planning and visualization of your final work before your first layer of dye and wax. I am painting on silk and it's additional challenge since silk is a natural fiber and it co-creates alongside with you. It requires lots of patience and time but it creates the depth and unreal quality that can't be achieved with other mediums. I was born in Central Asia, traveled the world and settled in New Orleans Metropolitan Area. Being a melting pot of different cultures New Orleans as well as jazz music became a huge source of inspiration for me.
