Suffocation Print

An old painting from my late teenage years, it is slightly experimental yet indicative of my inclination towards cool-toned and dream-like atmospheres. The skulls are made out of painted and cut wood, superimposed (glued) onto the main canvas for a sentiment of pressure. This reflects feelings of suffocation during a simultaneously hyperactive and lonely time in my life, when identity easily slipped in and out of my fingers (hence the multiplicity of 'heads'). My style is quasi-photorealistic and sometimes animation-like when isolating compositional elements. When looked at as a full piece, I hope it gives a feeling of the uncanny, which is something I had just started to attempt here. No hanging hardware included. Canvas is simply stretched on a flat and thin (0.15in) plank of wood. Two of the 'skulls' extend slightly over the main canvas piece. In general, it is raw-looking and unframed.
