The Breaking of Dawn Print

'The Breaking of Dawn' 2015-2017. This was the second of my collection and my intention for this piece was to work with colour, vibrancy and to explore layering of collage. I developed texture using a mixed media technique. I see mountains and rock formations within the lower section and which reflects a sense of struggle with the climb to fulfillment. The exotic colours give it an intense sensation of burning heat and the melting hearts provide a hint of sadness and pain. Overall 'The Breaking of Dawn' represents slow and gradual growth and development after a period of intense darkness. The tree element was the last puzzle piece within this composition providing a sense of new life, innocence and nurturing.
