About The Artwork

Here is a tribute to Carel Fabritus. The Goldfinch has deep symbolic messages to Christianity. A little bird with a story. Why is there a goldfinch in a painting of Mary and Jesus? The answer lies in the story of Jesus's crucifixion when a goldfinch came and pulled a thorn-a thistle- from the crown of thorns on his head. Jesus's blood turned its face red. This is how the golfinch got its distinctive red "mask" and became a symbol for the death of Jesus Christ on the cross. The symbolism also appears in other paintings; Jesus as a toddler, playing with a golfinch. He is depicted as a child and Saviour simultaneously. I wanted to paint this beautiful painting, for its allegory message, and what it means to Christians. This is a unique one of a kind original painted by artist, it is 11 X 14 on Arches watercolor board, includes frame shown to protect this unique, symbolic, painting. Watercolor pen & ink. My art is a reflection of things that inspire me, and bring joy to everyday life faith, nature, abstract, portraits. My style is Expressionism, Modern, and figurative. I enjoy painting wildlife, fish, underwater scenes, faith paintings, and angels. When I paint angels I get a sense of peace and serenity. The underwater scenes are inspired by 30 years of scuba. I also paint wildlife for I am out in the Colorado mountains quite often. My other works can be found at my website https://artallegory.com he mediums that I use are Oil, Watercolor, Encaustic, and Pen & Ink. The Mixed Media paintings incorporate things from nature such as petrified wood, lapis, sea shells and other stones. I retain all reproduction rights on images, artwork, and original paintings. You can find some of my paintings on display at the Brighton, Co. "Color of Love" art display at Brighton City Hall Sept -Jan.2020. The Littleton Fine Arts Museum Nov-Dec. 2019, 2020. Artist Statement: Those who speak in spiritual terms routinely refer to God as creator but seldom see ‘creator’ as the literal term for ‘artist’. I am suggesting you take the term ‘creator’ quite literally. You are seeking to forge a creative alliance, artist-to-artist, with the Great Creator God. Personal Statement: I believe we are all stewards of our planet; each individual should do whatever they can to preserve our wildlife, ocean, forests and air. Stand up for your beliefs, and focus on the positive things in life. Life is short, use your time wisely. Love, Laugh, make new friends, and enjoy Art!
