About The Artwork

'The Goodbye Corner' is painted from a friend's Instagram. The photo offered two different takes on female sexuality, and I wanted to communicate that. Our first is the cliche playboy bunny (half naked - overtly sexual) whom is submissive and shadowed, eyes lowered. The second is a goth-like dominatrix (whip in hand and mouth) controlling the scene, centre and caught in the flash, defiantly staring down her audience. 'The Goodbye Corner' references the physical space and hopefully leads the viewer to question, "goodbye from what?". Are you invited to join these two sirens in their world and so you must say goodbye to yours? Or are you being rejected and told that you are not welcome in their world and so, "goodbye"? The answer is at the viewer's discretion.
