About The Artwork
Bold, iconic, contemporary work influenced by the Renaissance, Religious Iconography, and Circus Sideshow Banners. My work incorporates aspects of each of these influences, adding my present day musings, overall optimistic outlook and occasional dark humor. I often refer to my body of work as “Everyday Icons”. These Icon portraits focus on a single character to capture moments of defiance, triumph, transition, enlightenment and serenity. I employ the use of scale, color, metal leaf, texture, varnish and glitter to give depth and reverence to the piece.
