An Skal (Anita P. Skalic) is an artist born in Split, Croatia, whose work delves into the subtle layers of human emotion and introspection. She holds a degree from the Faculty of Political Science in Zagreb, as well as a Master of Science in Economics, and built a successful career in journalism, marketing, and management before shifting her focus. Later in life, she fully embraced art, completing the fourth level of the Fine Arts School “Paleta,” which provided her with the technical foundation to pursue painting confidently. Painting gradually emerged as her most authentic form of expression—a space where words fall short, and color and gesture carry the weight of her inner dialogue. Her paintings often center on portraits and symbolic motifs, which serve as metaphors for fragility, resilience, and transformation. Each work unfolds as a personal conversation, yet invites viewers to recognize their own emotions within the canvas. Guided by sensitivity rather than rigid academic rules, An Skal paints with a desire to connect—offering moments of reflection, vulnerability, and quiet strength. Her art is not about perfection but about honesty: an intimate search for truth.
