Picasso enjoyed his friend's painting imagery & visual discoveries so much, he painted "Rousseau-like" paintings himself [Mailer, N., "The Artist as a Young Man"], Picasso went so far as to sign them: "Henri Rousseau." Picasso created new images and mystical forrest appropriate to the "Rousseau Realm" . . . an artist tribute. : : This idea of painting a "Rousseau" or a "Picasso" dovetailed with my intellectual explorations & interest in art-knowing via a process of returning to the motivations, thoughts and action of the painters of that modernist era 1890-1920. Finding the essence of their artowork and then following the development of art forward into the 20th century. I have evolved my painting through many styles, studied modernism. This painting of a peaceful mountain top is meant to be about a forest in a modernist era, surely years prior to the invention of machine and industry, the view into the painting is calm and problems a century in the future.
