About The Artwork
Another illustration for a Ukrainian Christmas Carol, "Temnenkaya Nichka" (The Dark Night). This folk song tells the classical nativity story enriched with folklore details: the Virgin Mary comes to a rich man and asks him to give her shelter for a night, but he is not willing and sics his dogs on her. (The dogs kneel in fear before her, though). Then Mary comes to a poor man who does shelter her, as we know from the Gospels. This last Christmas of 2022 was really special in Ukraine. Because of Russia bombing our infrastructure, we were left without light in our homes, but not without hope and faith. This gave a lot of inspiration to paint Light in the Darkness - the symbol of Christ born in this dark world to bring hope and salvation.

I would describe myself as a storyteller artist. One more is on its way to be published! But even my standalone pictures tend to tell stories too. I'm I a self-taught artist and started my artistic way not so long ago. Art had been my hobby until 2018, when I realized that I need to make it something much more to be happy. And that art is my way to make the world a better place.
