About The Artwork

Welcome to the enthralling world of 'Two Riders,' a captivating oil on canvas artwork by renowned Ukrainian artist Alexander Levich. This masterpiece, measuring 85 x 156 cm, invites you to witness the harmonious elegance of two women riding horses, gracefully moving through the canvas. The artist's fascination with these magnificent creatures shines through, as their joyful and vigorous presence fills the composition. The painting's artistic style balances realism and minimalism, showcasing Levich's mastery of brushwork in creating soft, delicate textures that bring the horses and their riders to life. The dominant bright green background serves as a perfect contrast to the central brown horse, carrying a blonde woman, slightly closer to the right side of the artwork. As you delve into 'Two Riders,' you'll sense the essence of a leisurely weekend of horse riding, captured from life and meticulously finished at the studio. The background, skillfully simplified with minor exceptions, forms an almost plain green color field, drawing attention to the main subjects. With each stroke, Levich conveys a love for horses that spans decades, as he reveals, 'There’s nothing better than riding a horse. The most exciting stories, best movies, picturesque landscapes, battlefields, royal estates, have one thing in common - horses!' This passion is evident in every detail, reflecting the nobility and graciousness of these animals. The unique combination of plain background and detailed realistic depiction of the horses and their riders adds an intriguing charm to the painting. Immerse yourself in the optimistic and positive atmosphere this painting radiates, celebrating the special relationship between humans and horses. Whether you're an avid collector or a newcomer to art, 'Two Riders' will add a touch of grace and vitality to any space it graces, reminding viewers of the joy found in the embrace of nature and the extraordinary connections formed between people and horses.

What is the most important thing in life? It's not the external surroundings but our inner world. Painting serves as the key that unlocks this realm. By following this path, one learns not just to look, but to truly SEE. Through my art, I delve into profound content. Painting becomes a medium of communication, a canvas for thoughts. The questions are always deeper than the answers, and the answers are discoveries we make within ourselves. My paintings serve as guides, leading you along the pathways of your own thoughts. I aim to offer you the joy of connecting with your inner world, the luxury of harmony and solitude in communication with yourself. I was born in 1963 in Kyiv, Ukraine, and in 1987, I graduated from the painting faculty of the Kyiv Art Academy, under the guidance of Professor A.M. Lopukhov. Since 1990, I have been a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine. As a professional artist with over 30 years of experience, my artistic journey can be divided into two main periods. The first period, which spanned over 20 years after my graduation, can be described as "Metarealism." The second period, which I refer to as my "return to realism," began around 2010, you may explore my artworks from both periods showcased here. If you would like to delve deeper into my portfolio, view additional paintings beyond those displayed on this website, or if you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact me directly via email at a.levich@protonmail.com. You are also warmly welcome to visit my studio in Kyiv. Thank you sincerely for your interest.
