Tim Patz is an American artist living and working in Florida, who is deeply fascinated (obsessed really) with how the meanings of images and symbols change as cultures evolve. He feels that this evolutionary process, in today’s technological age, has taken on a unique form. A form, in which, despite the development of an interactive and global community of emails, texting, and social networking; the type and sequence of this digital information (the order of images, symbols, words and word fragments) experienced is unique to the individual, and therefore completely subjective to the individual. Through the partial (and, at times complete) deconstruction of shapes, forms, letters, and numbers; Tim creates works that deconstruct word and meaning down to its most elemental nature. These snippets of reality are to be interpreted by the individual, void of any predetermined collective understanding or context. In Tim’s words, it is “Art for the purpose of fabricating a new truth”.
