Karina Falkor is a self-taught artist and photographer based in Kharkiv, Ukraine. She is a design engineer by education, but later realized that such an activity was not for her because from childhood, she loved to paint. At school and at the university her study books were everywhere painted with various sketches. And with the advent of mobile phones with cameras, she started to get involved in photography. Her first camera was an old mobile phone with 2.5MPx. Then she realized that she had to save up for her first amateur camera. So her acquaintance with photography began somewhere in 2012. She couldn't choose between photography and painting and now she combines her two favorite activities. “In photography, I try to convey the natural beauty of a person, to emphasize the zest of each, to catch the moment from which I myself will be delighted, and the person in my lens will believe me and be surprised at his beauty. In my painting, I like to capture moments from life and what we usually do not pay attention to, we pass by, not noticing how beautifully a fly found its death by falling into a web, for example. These can be my memories from childhood, where there was a special romance: a creaky bicycle, running through summer puddles, cats, chickens, pancakes at my grandmother's... These can be any significant moments both for me and for each of you. I want people to find something of their own, familiar in my works... I often take pictures of different things with my camera while walking along the streets. Sometimes plots can become an excellent photograph or a reference for a future artwork. Cats are frequent heroes of my works. In our free time, my husband and I help stray animals and thanks to this, now there are three cats in our family, who may become characters in my book in the future..."
