About The Artwork

The picture belongs to a series of 22 pictures that were taken after trip to India in 2016. The journey made a lasting impression on me. When I returned, my travel photos became an inspiration for painting. I brought hand-stamped fabrics with me with the aim of incorporating them as collage elements into my pictures. These materials are produced manually and labor intensively in factories. The hand-carved wooden stamps are individually carved depending on the color - often several stamps are needed for printing on the fabrics. In this picture we see a young man, a goatherd with his goats. The young man wears a tight white shirt that is not typical of that of a shepherds. He holds a long stick on his shoulder. On the left side, the background of the picture is covered with a patterned fabric on which some of the goats are painted. The pattern of the substance partly passes into the body of the animals. This creates a negative form that emphasizes the material and its pattern. The color of the fabric hardly stands out in some places from the colors of the goats, the difference between the painted surface and the glued fabric is only noticeable at second glance. The mood of the picture is cheerful and meditative. The background is calm, with only a few shadows around the animals, creating a spatial effect. The contrast between the real and the painted fabric makes up the tension of the picture. The picture is mounted on stretcher and is ready to hang. The colors are high quality and the surface is treated with UV spray. This prevents color fading.

I am a Berlin based painter. I was born in Transylvania and attended an art school and an art academy. I have a classical academic education. After I moved to Germany in 1985, I continued to develop my painting style but also pursued new artistic paths. My work is mostly figurative, centered around societal, lifestyle, political and economic themes. The "modern man" with his way of life, as well as his feelings take up the most prominent place. Textiles, too, have a central role in my work. They are often the triggering element, at the basis of the work process itself. My goal is to create an illusion, so that mixed mediums on the canvas are not visible right away. The paint is applied in a thin layer, so that the process of painting is visible. My work has been shown at several art fairs, such as KIAF, Soul, Art Karlsruhe, Art Market Budapest, Cologne List, Berlin etc. I was fortunate to receive some art scholarships and my paintings are also represented in several private and public collections such as Daimler Art collection, Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau Frankfurt, Regierungspräsidium Stuttgart, Südwestbank Stuttgart, Städtische Kunstsammlung Kirchheim unter Teck, Städtische Museen Heilbronn, Landratsamt Heilbronn, Städtische Galerie Esslingen, Stadt- und Fachwerkmuseum Eppingen, IG Metall- Zentrale Frankfurt am Main, Stadt Güglingen, Stadt Neckarsulm, Heimatmuseum Flacht, E-Werk Freiburg, Hallen für Kunst, TTR Technologiepark Tübingen-Reutlingen, Sammlung KOGART, Budapest, Stadt Samorin/SK, Stadt Štúrovo/SK.
