Vakhtang Oniani (patronymic Stephane) was born on August 30, 1932 in the village Zhakhundeli (Svaneti) - Republic of Georgia. In 1951 he enrolled in Tbilisi State Academy of Fine Art, faculty of sculpture, which graduated in 1958. Since his studentship, he participates in Republican, Union and Foreign exhibitions. He is Honored Art Worker of the Republic of Georgia, Holder of an Order of Dignity, Designer of International Exhibition Art. Member of the Council of Artists of Soviet Union and Georgia. Real Member of National and Technologic Academies. He, as an author of many monuments, manufacturer of machine art and Georgian mythological epos and maker of illustrations, continues creative work to the present day. Rewards: 1967 - Honoured Artist of the Georgian SSR 1967 - Golden Medal for Exhibition at the International Exhibition in Algeria 1969 - Diploma for the Best Design, - Georgian Pavilion of the International Book Exhibition, held in Moscow; Bronze Medal - awarded by the Union of Artists of Georgia; All-Union Medal for Labour Valour 1992-2001 - Works in small plastic art
