Ruslan Malets was born on April 17, 1981 in Horodok, Khmelnytskyi region. He started painting in his early childhood. His first works were on wallpaper. In 1996, he entered the Kosiv School of Applied and Decorative Arts, specializing in artistic painting, and graduated in 2000. Then he studied for a year at the Ivan Trush Lviv State College of Decorative and Applied Arts. For another six years he studied at the Lviv National Academy of Arts, Faculty of Decorative and Applied Arts (Department of Art Glass). After graduation, Ruslan worked as a glass artist for several years. He created Tiffany and fusion stained glass windows. The artist also had experience in church painting and stone carving. But he started painting only in 2019. At first, he depicted his ideas on canvases, and then on wooden boards that once served as fences. For several years now, the artist has been making tablets out of them and thus giving the old wood a second life. Ruslan Malets became famous for his paintings on boards. Today his works can be seen in leading galleries in Ukraine. They are also kept in private collections in France, Latvia, Italy, and Germany. The artist also participates in group and solo exhibitions. In his works, Ruslan Malets reveals various problems of our time. Mostly of an environmental, psychological, theological, and recently political nature. He created a series of works on the theme of war. In it, the artist told the world about pain and loss, as well as about the willpower of Ukrainians and the indomitable spirit of the Ukrainian people. Currently, the artist from Khmelnytskyi is working on another series of paintings, the main character of which is his wife.
