Born in 1972 in the suburbs of Kolkata,West Bengal, India,.I am an abstract (non figurative) artist. From my childhood I was enchanted by the beauties of nature - vast sky, rivers and even paddy fields. But as time passed by urbanization gradually clouded the landscape of my dreamland. It also changed our mode of thinking, our emotions and even our relationships. From my childhood I just want to express myself through space, line and colour. Urban culture with all its features have cast a strong influence on my painting. Hard and straight lines, and monotonous and bold but vibrant colours dominate my paintings, which symbolise the harshness of modern society. I have been working as a self-taught professional visual artist since 1995.I have always tried to establish my painting as an independent visual art form rather than as a narrative. My aim is to create a long lasting impression on my viewers’ mind and soul. In this sense, I look upon my painting as a journey which will lead the viewer beyond the bounds of time and  space. This, I hope will enable the viewer to interpret my painting in the way it affects him rather than as a mere embodiment of my thoughts and ideas.
