b. 1990, Pistoia, Italy. Alessio Lucarini embarked on his artistic path following his graduation from the University of Bologna in 2014, where he pursued a degree in DAMS (Drama, Art and music studies). His initial exploration was rooted in photography, culminating in the series titled Colors (2020-2022). This body of work embodies a visual expression that anticipates the forthcoming evolution of his artistic practice. The transition from photography to painting should not merely be perceived as a change in medium; rather, it represents a significant advancement in his approach to artistic creation. This shift invigorates his research, allowing him to expand his visual language and engage with the viewer in a more profound and personal manner. Through painting, Lucarini delves into new expressive territories, establishing a direct connection with those who observe his works. Currently, his artistic inquiry culminates in the creations known as Untitled, presenting a complex and captivating journey of personal exploration. In this phase, color assumes a value that transcends mere decorative function, becoming a fundamental expressive language for the artist. The tones employed in his pieces convey deep and personal meanings, addressing issues related to identity and individual experiences. Lucarini’s approach to the question of color is framed as an intimate reflection on his own experiences, inviting viewers to engage in a dialogue between the artist’s inner world and the external reality. Through this interaction, color transforms into a symbol that captures the complexity of human experience, rendering each piece not only an aesthetic manifestation but also an invitation to contemplation and emotional connection.
