Born 1951 in Ryton. Co. Durham. United Kingdom. As well as being a painter, sculptor, and photographer; I am also a musician and music producer. I have been painting occasionally since 1980. I began with a small oil palette but by 1986 I had stopped this and moved to painting on glass. During the period 1986-87, I completed a number of glass paintings. I restarted painting in oils in 2004 and changed to acrylics in 2006, watercolours in 2008, mixed media in 2009, pastels 2010 and using spray paint about 2012. My view of any kind of art is that it should leave an impression, whether it is good or bad is up to the individual. I think my style of painting and drawing is about colours and shapes and how they interact. I mainly paint acrylics and spray paint, sometimes oils, inks, watercolours, mixed media, plus glass paint on sheet glass. I also draw using oil and chalk pastels plus watercolour pencils. I use a variety of objects to paint such as blocks of wood, strips of paper, my fingers and of course, brushes. I always have music playing when I'm painting as it keeps me in the mood of that particular artistic piece. My paintings and drawings are a mixture of Naive Art and Outsider Art and I suppose I could be called an expressionist, experimental artist. I also sculpt and use this in some mixed media pieces. My influences are Van Gogh, the Fauvists such as Matisse, Derain and the Nordic Impressionists such as Munch, Osslund, Fjaerstad, Astrup and Erichsen. The French Impressionists namely Cezanne and Monet have also made their contributions to my art as well as Kallela, Turner,Hokusai, Utamaro, Hundertwasser, Derain, Maguin, and Salvador Dali.
