I have been photographing buoys for a while and the challenge is their placement. Here, they’re balanced. The strong texture of the rope contrasts well against the softer rubber surface of the buoys. You also have all the elements of the fishing; including the fishing line with its more delicate lines adding to the allure. The extremes of the tonal range are also satisfied in one buoy with its black and white definition. The hanging buoys offer some tension, so even as they’re static, you sense their use is imminent. This still life-like portrayal of buoys plays off all the same elements of shape, texture and tone. The array of fishing necessity is on full display and is offered in the best lighting and detail.
