Imagine being suspended in water, encircled by ephemeral objects that glint, gleam , shift shadows, reveal images and illuminate colors. Such is the highly exceptional nature of La Chauvinieres' translucent sculptures and digital art. Each of her pieces is original by virtue of the materials and components more importantly, by events and/or injustices that inspire her creations. Her subject matters are compelling, moving, intellectually demanding and for some, disquieting. As with all important art, her work never leaves a viewer unaffected. The only known artist to be working with torolithe, La Chauvinere-Riant has fused several art forms to create pieces that are unique and uniquely significative. La Chauviniere-Riants empathy for global grievances and exploitations, as exquisitely experienced by individuals, is subliminally evident in each piece. Seemingly disparate elements almost mystically combine to affect each viewer, personally, from within. Impressionistic, inspired images that are uniquely expressed is the essence of La Chauviniere-Riants art. Years of experimentation with the material torolithe has resulted in a unique know-how that has enabled the artist to innovate, creating sculpture from the inside outside. At this point in time, no other artist has achieved dexterity with this unusual material. La Chauviniere, alone, has mastered the treatment of torolithe to evolve pieces that are translucent, yet evocative of watercolor. She has been able to capture interior light, which fluctuates from viewer to viewer releasing highly symbolic messages that connect with individuals visually and intrinsically.
