Focus is a photograph shot in Krisuvik geothermal area in Iceland in February 2016. I am working on a larger series of people in nature and exploring the magnificent and energetic places in Iceland. The series is new and I intend to shoot more during this coming winter, next spring and summer.

Maria Kjartans artist - photographer b. 1980 Icelandic born artist María Kjartans graduated with her MFA from Glasgow School of Art in 2007. Since then she has been living and working in London, Glasgow, Paris and now most recently Reykjavik, exhibiting her photography and video art around the world. María was rewarded Signature Art Award in London and the IdeasTap / Magnum Photographic awards for her photography projects and recently nominated as the winner in Open call at Helsinki Photo festival. Alongside doing visual art María is the co-founder of Vinnslan , which is a collective of Icelandic artists who create and curate interdisciplinary art projects. María's latest work is being an art director of the site specific piece Tæring, in collaboration with Akureyri Culture Company (ACC) which is currently on display in Akureyri, Iceland. Contact:
