Photographing in Northampton, Massachusetts I noticed the hat on this man. I liked the contrast between the texture of the hat and the smoothness of the shirt. There was a nice play of light on the neck as well.

John Romanski is a visual artist in western Massachusetts. His long career has embraced fine arts, commercial and teaching photography. Originally from Brooklyn, New York John has a long exhibition history in photography and painting . Early photographic education began at the well known Germain School of Photography in N.Y.C. This became a catalyst for a career as a commercial photographer. A few years later, John studied photography under Lester L. Krauss at The City College of New York. Shortly after , studies in painting began under Doug Ohlson. Later on John was painting under Allan D'Arcangelo and pursuing photography with Walter Rosenblum at Brooklyn College where he received an M.F.A. in Studio Art. Many years of art experience has given John an opportunity to explore various areas of painting and fine arts photography although not limited to documentary, landscape and abstract. John's work has been widely exhibited in galleries, museums and alternative spaces in the nearby region and Eastern Europe. Most notably in New York's Museum of Modern Art, Salmagundi Club and the NYU Small Works Show. Photographs were in a traveling exhibit which were shown at Kashirka Gallery in Moscow, Russia and Kazakhstan Museum of Art in Pavlodar, Russia.
