Located between sea and mountains, the territory is characterized by vast beech forests often shrouded in fog, creating an atmosphere su...

Impermanence is the language of nature.Through my photography, I want to tell the stories whispered by the trees, carved into the rocks, and reflected in the water. ABOUT ME Stefano Balma (Turin, 1988) is a landscape photographer whose work balances contemplation and aesthetic research. Based in Genoa, his artistic journey began with music before evolving toward photography, which he discovered and developed during his travels. His photographic training includes workshops with Niccolò Talenti and participation in educational photography trips organized by Gabriele Lorenzini of FotoCorsi. Since 2023, this experience has transformed into a professional collaboration where he serves as a tutor for groups of photographers in destinations such as Madeira and Greenland. His vision is characterized by evocative and balanced compositions, where vivid colors enhance the viewer's perception, inviting a contemplation that goes beyond simple landscape admiration. ARTIST STATEMENT Balma's photography is a search for wonder and awe through landscapes and natural elements. His photographic vision, influenced by Buddhist practice which he began before approaching photography, focuses on themes of impermanence and time. His works do not merely document places but interpret them as manifestations of constant becoming, inviting reflection on our relationship with nature. His work unfolds through interconnected projects: series like "Shapes of Earth" tell the story of landscape as sculpture in eternal becoming. In "Shapes of Ice" he express the anguish of life's flow through a reportage on glacier melting. While his photography explores remote locations and extreme landscapes, it is also deeply rooted in the Ligurian territory. It is here that Balma is developing "Sati Vana, the forest of awareness", depicts the Beigua Natural Park as the fairy-tale forest, a place of introspection and inner transformation. His approach, rooted in contemplation but oriented toward wonder, invites the observer to question profound themes and explore themselves, through a nature that, like a tuning fork, can retune us and bring us back into harmony with it.
