Antonia Penia is an award-winning artist working across photography, video, and performance. She was born in Galicia, Spain, and has been based in London since 2010. Antonia's work has been exhibited worldwide for over two decades. Antonia's project, The Warrior of My Life, was a finalist at the AOP Awards 2023. Her work From War to the Wardrobe won the prestigious Portrait of Britain Award in 2022. A retrospective celebrating 20 years of her work, focusing on her hometown, Galicia, was held at the Instituto Cervantes Prague in 2023, followed by a second retrospective, Body and Earth, of the last 10 years of her work, at the Instituto Cervantes Manchester in 2025. She focuses on exploring behaviour, particularly as a woman, and addressing issues of gender, power, and patriarchy, embodying a commitment to creating thought-provoking pieces. She believes in equality, and she fights for her rights. Antonia explored her sexual visual expression with her first work, Leave Me Alone (2004), which led to collaborations with some of Spain's most renowned erotic publications. She shot her first Playboy cover at the age of 26. Her sensual and powerful underwater film series, Symbiosis of Liquid Dreams, won the Young Creator of the Year Award at Feria de Arte Contemporáneo in Madrid (2008). Profoundly spiritual and connected to Mother Earth, her images of bareback portraits at one with natuNatureatured in Photo Vogue Italia in 2020, remain an ongoing theme throughout Antonia's work.
