About The Artwork

Soho's usage as a name to mark this part of London is said to have originated in the early 17th century when the area was a hunting ground, and 'Soho' was used as a hunting cry. Heart of the City is a visual interpretation of the moods of Soho in central London as one walks its well-trodden paths drawn by its atmospheres, energies and rhythms from the past and present that reside together in the heart and soul of the city, which I still consider Soho to be. The composition is conjuring up the excitement of the illicit activities and the vibrancy of cultural exchanges that have allowed mischief and creativity to flourish mutually within the so-called 'unsquare mile' for centuries. Transient intersections and interactions in the Heart of the City.

My work is informed by emotional responses to colour and the figurative and abstract forms found in natural and urban settings. I have produced creative works for high profile museums and galleries including the V&A and the RA, London. Recent MA study in Art and Design has taken my practice in a typographic/pop-cultural direction. I will continue to develop the work through visual experimentation to produce art that communicates the artistic intention to the viewer in a visually compelling manner.
